Will Phillip Hooper was born in Biddeford, Maine, receiving his education back east at the Art Student’s League in New York before traveling west with his family, first to the frontier where his father was an Indian agent, and later to Minnesota. His sketches of frontier life were often published in periodicals and newspapers.
